Brian Mulroney
Brian Mulroney, born on March 20, 1939, in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, is a Canadian statesman who served as the 18th Prime Minister of Canada from 1984 to 1993. A member of the Progressive Conservative Party, Mulroney’s tenure was marked by significant economic and political reforms. Under his leadership, Canada saw the introduction of the historic Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement in 1988, later expanded into the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), fostering increased trade between Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Mulroney was instrumental in advancing environmental policies and played a key role in the fight against apartheid in South Africa. His strong advocacy for environmental conservation led to the Acid Rain Treaty with the United States in 1991, addressing a critical environmental issue affecting both nations.
