Christopher Julius Rock, aka Chris Rock, is an American standup comedian, TV producer, and filmmaker. He has filmed a variety of movies along with his career as a standup comedian. Chris’ big break came in the 90’s when he got his first big appearance on Saturday Night Live. After a few seasons as a cast member he was featured on many big hit films including Down to Earth, The Longest Yard, Madagascar film series, Grownup, and its sequels.
On February 7, 1965, Chris was born in Andrews, South Carolina. He was brought up in working class community in Bedford. His mother was a teacher and social activist for disabled people, and his father was a newspaper deliveryman and a truck driver. His grandfather, as a preacher, and had a big influence Chris getting into the entertainment industry. Chris suffered from bullying as a kid and was kicked out of High School and working at fast-food restaurants gave him the idea to develop his sitcom based on his early life, Everybody Hate Chris, for which he won an Emmy award.
Chris won 2 Emmy awards for his appearance in the hit series HBO Comedy Half Hour and Bring The Pain. He has hosted several academy award ceremonies and corporate events. He is considered to be one of the all-time top comedians that has ever existed.
