Chris Voss
Chris Voss is an American business magnate, writer, and top negotiator. He is a former FBI Hostage Negotiator and CEO of The Black Swan Group. He is the author of a famous book on negotiation principles, Never Split The Difference. Voss is also an award-winning teacher and Professor at Georgetown University and McDonough School of Business. He is also teaching at Marshall School of Business and is one of the most viewed classes on Masterclass.
Chris was born in Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science. He completed his Masters in Public Administration at John F. Kennedy School of Government. He spent time as a policeman in Kansas City before getting a chance to join the FBI. He entertained the department with his negotiation tactics, and honed his skills confronting countless criminals, including bank robbers and terrorists. He spent 24 years in his career in dealing with high stakes hostage negotiations.
During his tenure in the FBI, he supervised cases in Colombia, Haiti, and the Philippines. He retired from the FBI in 2007 and began teaching before eventually starting his own company. Voss was awarded Attorney General Award for his prestigious services in the Law Enforcement Department as well as the FBI Agents Associations Awards. He has also been featured in Forbes, Times, and regularly comes on TV networks as a commentator for CNN and Fox News.
