Dr. Mark T. Esper
Dr. Mark T. Esper, born on April 26, 1964, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, is an American defense official and former Secretary of Defense. He has had a distinguished career in public service, with a focus on defense and national security.
Esper graduated from the United States Military Academy and served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army before pursuing advanced degrees in public administration, international relations, and a doctorate in Public Policy from George Washington University.
Dr. Esper held various key positions, including Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Negotiations Policy and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for House Affairs. In July 2019, he was confirmed as the Secretary of Defense, serving under the Trump administration, making significant contributions to defense policy and strategy.
