March For Our Lives is a powerful student-led movement that emerged in the wake of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018. The survivors of the shooting, fueled by their grief and anger, coalesced to demand change in the United States’ gun control policies and to advocate for greater school safety.
Under the leadership of young activists, including Emma González, David Hogg, and Cameron Kasky, March For Our Lives organized one of the largest youth-led protests in U.S. history, the “March For Our Lives” rally in Washington, D.C., on March 24, 2018. The movement quickly gained national and international attention, mobilizing millions of people in support of gun control reform.
March For Our Lives has since continued its advocacy, pushing for comprehensive gun control measures, engaging in voter registration drives, and demanding that the voices of young people be heard in the political arena. The movement’s determination and passionate activism have made it a catalyst for change and a symbol of the power of youth activism in addressing critical societal issues.
